Gen Y artist, David Garibaldi (1982), has combined his love for music and art into a synchronized performance in which he reveals his passionate through a portrait of purpose.

Originally from Los Angeles, Garibaldi knew he was meant for expressing himself through color and images upon receiving his first crayon. Influenced by his father, a musician, and his mother, a beautician, Garibaldi has always had an appreciation for the arts. Early in his youth, he moved to South Sacramento where he was inspired to create works from the heart on the walls of the street. It was in middle school while listening to RunDMC & Snoop Dogg that he noticed how music affected his graffiti painting.

From then on, music and art became a huge part of his life, and in high school he joined the Hip Hop dance group, Boogie Monstarz and started perfecting his painting skills in class. In 2003, Garibaldi switch from graffiti walls to canvases and was hit with an “Ah-Ha” moment after watching a performance from artist, Denny Dent, that prompted him to create art with passion and purpose.

Garibaldi now uses his performances to create an awareness for youth driven charities and has raised over $700,000 for nonprofits across the country. Working closely with Special Olympics, Echoes of Hope, and Sacramento’s Children’s Home & World Vision, his personal goal is to raise over $1 million through his performance art by 2013.
