Ain’t no party like a Halloween party because a Halloween party is all about sweets.

Ok, so maybe Halloween is more for kids than the grown-ups, but just because you can’t go trick or treating anymore (without getting seriously judgmental stares) doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy Halloween desserts.

Throwing a good Halloween party involves a lot of work, from finding the best, timeliest costume to decking the halls with spooky spider webs. And of course, there are the Halloween themed snacks to think about – regular old cocktail party food just won’t fly for an All Hallows’ Eve throw down.

But this can be a challenge considering the fact that you’re stupidly busy and not exactly Martha Stewart in the kitchen. Not to fear! Luckily, there are tons of great, Halloween desserts that are pretty easy to whip up before the big day. And all of them pair well with a seasonal pumpkin ale or a glass of bubbly, too.

From no-bake cakes to sweet sorbet, there are more than enough sophisticated spooky treats to impress your crew… and none of them involve you painstakingly crafting body parts out of food.

Halloween Desserts Adults Will Love

Orange Sorbet Jack-O-Lanterns

These look fancy, plus they’re delicious and not too terribly unhealthy. Grab some oranges and cut off the top quarter to use as a lid later. Take a grapefruit spoon to scoop out the fruit (save it on the side to muddle it into cocktails or save for a morning after smoothie). Carve a simple little pumpkin face or whatever you like into the skin and fill with your favorite citrusy sorbet or vanilla gelato.

Finally, put the little lid on top to finish it off. You can make the shells ahead and then fill to order later. Want to up the ante? Pour a little vodka or champagne in before scooping in your sorbet – this trick is definitely not for kids but is a fun and clever way to combine libations with Halloween desserts.

Peanut Butter Fudge Caramel Apples

This takes your classic caramel apple up a notch. You can actually stuff the apples with any filling, but we love making them with a basic chocolate peanut butter ganache. Slice your apples in half and use a melon baller to scoop out the center. Fill the halved apples with the fudgy goodness and refrigerate. Slice the apples into wedges, sprinkle with peanuts or your favorite nut, and finish with drizzled chocolate sauce. These easy to eat, bite sized little tarts are sure to please your guests.

Easy Spider Cheesecake

This one is for the host or hostess with zero time to spare. Bake or buy your favorite cheesecake. While a pumpkin flavor or something colorful might work, a classic vanilla version works best for this look. Use a good chocolate sauce or caramel topping to decorate the top of the cake with a spiral. Then create the web effect by dragging the tip of a small knife from the inside out every inch or so. You can add chocolate cookie crumbs to the side of the cake instead of the usual graham cracker for a more intense effect. Voila! A quick Halloween dessert with flair.

Millennial Magazine- Halloween DessertsCreepy Crawly Sangria

It’s not technically dessert but there’s no wrong time to drink sangria. Follow whatever your favorite sangria recipe is, but instead of just fruit, grab some Halloween themed gummies — spiders and worms if you’re into grossing people out. But if you want to keep it classy, a bag of citrusy orange and yellow pumpkin gummies will do, too.

Caramel Pumpkin Spice Popcorn

This is a great munchie and it’s gluten free to boot. Make or buy your own caramel popcorn. Add a bag of Pumpkin Spice M&Ms, mini marshmallows, and maybe some roasted peanuts for extra crunch. Place bowls of it all around your abode so everyone can get their sweet and salty fix as they mingle.

Peanut Butter Acorns

The best thing about these sweet treats is that they’re also gluten free. Make a simple peanut butter cookie with peanut butter, brown sugar, and a little vanilla extract. Form them a little smaller than you normally would. When they come out of the oven, pop a Hershey’s Kiss on one side and a chocolate chip on the other. They’re cute, seasonal, and addictive little Halloween desserts.

Graveyard Dessert Dip

Who says dip has to be savory? Use a basic cream cheese based cheesecake recipe but add some cocoa powder and don’t bake it. Spread it into a serving dish instead. Crush chocolate cookies on top to make “dirt.” Use oval shaped cookies and place them on top for graves. Add a little ‘RIP’ with icing and a few piles of whip cream ghosts to really clinch the spooky factor. And if you want a little color, use pumpkin candies or candy corn just for show. You should probably chill before serving and add the cookies after so they don’t get soggy.

There are lots of ways to keep Halloween traditions once you’re all grown up. And if you’re hosting a soiree, all of these work well to satisfy your guests’ sweet tooth.

But we definitely won’t judge you if you decide to stay in for the night, avoid the crowds, and get your grub on with some spooky Netflix selections. Sometimes sangria and pumpkin spiced popcorn is just too good to share.
