Millennial Magazine - Justin Gotthardt-Quote

Justin Gotthardt started Be Easy with his friend Zack Sochor during the summer of 2010 in the small town of Sherman, Connecticut. Justin and Zack, 18 at the time, collectively had $54 to their names. They optimistically decided to print 12 original Be Easy t-shirts with the savings and sold them for $15 a piece in “The Goon Cocoon” at the New Milford skatepark. Eventually skateboards and snowboard decks were added to the inventory. Camaraderie kept Justin going, and the Be Easy family was formed.

Cancer stole Zack at age 21, but Justin continued with the company in his honor. Be Easy hit hard, selling product on skate trips all over the country multiple times. Most notably was the “Grime Life” roadtrip, a three week ‘to and from’ Atlanta. Justin and his crew slept in a car and lived off propane-grilled hotdogs. They survived on memories and mayhem; and even made a full length skate movie, “Grime Life,” which was featured on The Berrics, a popular skateboarding site.
