Millennial Magazine - Lindsey Drake Quote

Lindsey Drake is not your typical elite runner. She doesn’t hold any national titles and has never made it to an NCAA National meet. Compared to most of the girls she competes with, Lindsey just appeared out of nowhere. She is not sponsored, works a part time job, and makes the best of what she has, and like a lot of 24-year-olds, she is learning how to be an adult. However, Drake doesn’t think she could have been any luckier when it comes to her training situation. She trusts her coach Chris Cook, and loves her Bowerman Track Club teammates. She is also so blessed that her parents have been so supportive, and attending every race they can.

Lindsey believes life and racing is about the journey and says, “There are tons of stories out there where people had no business doing something amazing, but they beat the odds and succeeded non-the-less. I am going to be one of those stories.” So far Lindsey has been very successful, and in this last year she ran her first national championship at USATF Indoors, finishing 10th in the 3K. She also dropped her 5K time from 16: 22 to 15:44, a feat rarely accomplished in such a short amount of time.

Lindsey plans to keep testing the limits, creeping up on the leaders, and proving that all it takes is a wild, weird, fantastical dream.
