Walk down the ficus lined Via della Spiga in Milan and consume your senses with the lavish high fashion storefronts that breathe Italian wealth. Tucked into a discreet nook along this opulent street is the Baglioni Hotel Carlton’s private entrance. An Italian manor, the Baglioni stands with dignified grandeur just off Via Senato.

Directly in the heart of Europe’s esteemed Fashion District, Baglioni Hotel Carlton is a short walk to the Duomo through the charming Via Sant’Andrea and lots of local eateries, and is at the epicenter of business and culture. This 5 star boutique hotel offers leisure and business travelers alike the comforts of home while invoking the metropolitan spirit of Milanese affluence.

Family Owned.

Established in 1974 when Founder and President Roberto Polito bought his first property in Tuscany – the Hotel Cala del Porto in Punta Ala, Roberto and his wife, Lisa, developed a style of hospitality at Baglioni Hotel Group where service was placed above all else.

Passing the torch to his son Guido, who is now the CEO of the Baglioni Hotel Group, Polito says, “The appointment of Guido Polito marks the beginning of a generational change in the sign of continuity and maintaining the values and business management recognized in all tourism sectors as the “Baglioni Philosophy.” Now under millennial leadership (Guido was born in 1977) the family owned hospitality brand is responding to the habits and mindset of today’s experience-driven traveler.

Experience First.

Part of the hotel’s ethos is creating a more meaningful visit for patrons, placing a greater emphasis on crafting tailor made experiences. Imagine the ultimate Italian adventures – Ferrari tours to Lake Como, private shopping escapades through the Fashion District – tours that the Baglioni staff regularly books for their guests, making the hotel a must-stay for #YOLO travelers.

Sprucing Up.

Upholding environmental stewardship, the hotel group has begun a reuse program. All rooms come with an opt-out card to be placed on the bed consenting to the reuse of the linens and towels.

In 2013, the Baglioni Hotel Carlton renovated their lobby and select rooms to reflect a more contemporary style in hope of attracting the next generation of clientele. The newly refurbished garden restaurant, Caffe Baglioni, has also added a dedicated “Healthy Menu” specifically offering nutritional recipes.

Design and Comfort.

Certain rooms have been updated to embody a tasteful modern aesthetic while not losing some of the classic Baroque style that is signature to the Baglioni Hotel Group. MiLLENNiAL had the privilege of staying in a newly renovated fashion-forward Junior Suite.

The room exudes Italian charm- walls decorated in a neutral cheetah print with black hardwood trim, a plush King sized bed, and the most epic terrace balcony overlooking Via Senato.

The bathroom is considerably large for European standards, adding to the overall plushness of Baglioni. Comfortably wide shower with a rainforest head, an elegant vanity that accompanied the sink, and all the toiletries you would need including a blow dry and slippers are available. Additional perks to the room included an espresso machine (wouldn’t be Italy without one), mini bar, nice big closet with extra blankets, a desk, and an HD tv.

Community.

But it was the hospitality of Baglioni Hotel Carlton that made the stay! The staff was unbeatable. From the doormen that graciously greeted and catered to our every need to the friendly bartender Marco downstairs who indulged us in the fabulous garden side aperitivo (happy hour) and the incredible fruit and biscotti platter that was delivered to our room before a night out on the town, the hotel employees truly made the experience remarkable.
