Motel of the Week: Wigwam Motel

“Have you slept in a wigwam lately?”

That’s the slogan of Wigwam Motel, the well known Route 66 old fashioned charmer. I’m guessing like most, your answer is ‘no’. You should change that. A night in one of these tipi’s is the perfect resting place while journeying along America’s famous “Mother Road”. Situated amongst 3 well traveled areas of Arizona,  the Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater, and the Petrified National Forest these wigwams are not only kitschy, but also iconic to the original Route 66. The facilities offered here are authentic in a way that makes one feel as if they have been literally transported back to Route 66 in its hay-day.

The restaurants and landmarks of the surrounding town also seem to be stuck in time. Holbrook, Arizona lends an authentic southwestern feel with the presence of local Native Navajo, Hopi, and White Mountain Apache’s on nearby Reservations. A family run business, this unique lodging was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in May of 2002.

The Wigwam Motel is located at 811 West Hopi Drive Holbrook, Arizona 86025.
