5 Tips for Preventing and Combating Hair Loss

When it comes to hair loss prevention, there are a number of steps that you can take to help keep that hair on your head and not have to worry about becoming bald. A healthy lifestyle is a great place to start to make sure your hair will stick around for a long time. Some of the tips you can use to take care of your hair include:

Change Your Diet

Making a change in your diet can make a big difference in preventing hair loss. There are different ways that you can do that. Cut out some of the bad foods that you are eating, including the sugars and caffeine and bad salt. Replace those with some lean protein and a good multivitamin to help you get the nutrients that your whole body needs. You may even want to consider following the Mediterranean diet to help make sure that your hair stays as healthy as possible. 

Try a Scalp Massage

Not only will a scalp massage do wonders when it comes to reducing headaches and stress, but it can be the tool that you need to stimulate hair growth. Whether you do the scalp treatment on your own or you go in and have a professional do this, you will feel recharged and rejuvenated while doing something for your hair. The scalp massage does not have to be long. Four to five minutes a few times a week will be enough to stimulate the hair growth and help you feel great. 

Use Coconut Oil

There are a lot of different products on the market, but not all of them are going to do the work that they promise. One product that does work well and can keep your hair nice and shiny will be coconut oil. Coconut oil is a great tool to help prevent hair loss when it has been damaged from UV light. You can find many shampoo and other hair care products that include coconut oil in them or you can just place the oil directly on the hair to get the protection you need. 

Low-Level Light Therapy

In one study done in 2014, low-level laser light therapy was found to increase the amount of hair for the individual who used it. This will work the best for those who suffer from genetic hair loss or hair loss from chemotherapy. The exact duration of the treatment is not known yet, but if some of the other options do not work, it could provide you with the help that you need. 

Taking Medication

Good hair hygiene and some of the other steps above can do wonders when it comes to the strength and density of your hair. Often eating a good diet and using things like coconut oil will be enough to help. However, if you are still dealing with hair loss, then you may need to consider some hair loss medication to make this a bit easier. There are different options that you can use, but Minoxidil, which is an active ingredient inside of Rogaine, is going to be one of the most common options to use. Make sure to discuss using any hair loss medications with your doctor ahead of time. 

Keeping Your Hair In Place

No one wants to deal with hair loss at all. They want to make sure that they can keep those locks for as long as possible and prevent the balding and other issues as they age. While a bit of hair loss is normal as we age, finding ways to prevent and delay it may be a possibility as well. Try out a few of the options above in order to help prevent and even reverse your hair loss so you can enjoy your hair for years to come.
