Cross-training isn’t complicated; it just means that as well as knowing how to do their own job, your team will know how to do other people’s as well.

They might not know it to the same degree, but with good training, it will be enough to see you through for a little while until your staff members return or you’re able to hire new ones.

2. Rearrange Tasks

When you’re going through a period of staff shortages for any reason, it’s vital to think about which tasks are a priority and make sure they get done. Look at everything that you need to do and work out which tasks are the most important and which ones can be put off until you get everyone back together.
