Farmers Market of the Week: Coventry Farmers Market

“Equal parts country fair and farmers market, the Coventry Farmers Market feels like a momentous celebration each and every Sunday, with cooking demonstrations, sustainable living programs, kids activities and musical guests.

Surrounded by over 500 acres of forest and picturesque rural landscape, the Hale Farm provides a gracious backdrop for this vibrant event. This is the state’s largest and most diverse farmers market, featuring an average of 75 farmers, specialty food producers, and artisans each Sunday.

2016 marks their thirteenth season, the ninth year at their current location at the Hale Homestead. The market draws 100,000 visitors annually, generates sales exceeding $1,000,000, and is run by a volunteer committee that operates under a registered 501c3 organization. It is considered a “destination market” drawing nearly 50% of its patrons from beyond the local area. It is a “dog friendly” venue: leashed, well-mannered dogs are welcome.

The Coventry Farmers Market is held June through October, Sunday from 11 am to 2 pm on the grounds of the Nathan Hale Homestead at 2299 South Street in Coventry, Connecticut.
