Beverage of the Week: Apple Cider

Beverage of the Week: Apple Cider

Nothing screams fall and the holidays better than an unfiltered, unsweetened, non-alcoholic beverage made from apples. From hayrides through fall foliage to the scent of wood-burning stoves, apple cider is the drink of choice to celebrate upcoming winter festivities.

Easy and inexpensive to produce, apple cider has an opaque consistency due to the fine apple particles that exists within the drink. It may be tangier than conventional filtered apple juice, depending on the apples used.

This untreated cider is a seasonally produced drink of limited shelf-life though it is sometimes frozen for use throughout the year.  Apple cider has been around for centuries and was an important industry back in the day. Nowadays, it’s widely available year-round in supermarkets, and pretty easy to make yourself if you are so inclined to do so.
