There are not many things so quintessentially summer and satisfying as several buckets of handpicked fresh blueberries. Luckily, you can’t drive too far in any one direction in September in Vermont without stumbling across at least one pick-your-own berry farm.

A native fruit to North America, blueberries have been enjoyed by American Indians for hundreds of years and are known to have one of the highest antioxidant capacities among all fruits, vegetables, spices and seasonings. A rockstar among superfoods, these dynamic berries help to boost your immune system and prevent infections. Beyond their incredibly sweet and delicate flavor, blueberries help promote urinary track health, preserve vision, improve memory, prevent heart disease, aid in constipation and digestion, reduce the risk of cancer, act as an anti-depressant, and can even reduce belly fat.
