Our hands need to be busy doing something and our senses distracted by the different flavors. But what if there were some foods that calm you down naturally when you eat them? Salmon by far is the leading powerhouse food. It has so many benefits for your mind and body. Firstly, it’s a very fatty fish and is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. This is brilliant for your skin and your joints. However, the added benefit of omega-3 is what it does for your brain and mind. It can decrease the anxiety you have as well as allow your brain to function better. The fatty acids are very healthy for your brain’s neurons, which result in higher brain cognitively. Salmon is something that you can eat hot or cold, so you can take a salmon salad to lunch and you will gain the benefits of the fish throughout the day. Other fatty fishes like mackerel and sardines are also high up on the list of holy grail food which calms you down, helps your body to function and they just taste good.
Something a bit new
Depending on where you live, you’ll have better access to some of life’s quirky foods. The green plant that has been legalized in many countries around the world, comes in many different forms. All strands can be made into a sauce or ‘buttered’ variant with the way of high voltage extracts. The plants can be concentrated which results in a coarse paste which you can then put into your food. Use the paste created as part of your baking ingredients. If you’re making cookies, the paste can go into the dough and happily bake in the oven without losing its strength or taste, unlike cut up leaves or oils. You can also use the paste in your butter, so if you need something quick, a ‘herby’ slice of toast wouldn’t go amiss.
Foods which have a naturally high-fat content have multiple benefits. Nuts are especially good for your anxiety and nerves. Walnuts are perhaps the best in class, as they are rich in alpha-linolenic acid which is known to have a soothing effect. It can also boost your mood if you’re feeling nervous, it can help you be more enthusiastic. Hazelnuts, pecans and Brazil nuts all have this acid, but walnuts have the highest amount.
Don’t comfort eat, eat smart the next time you’re feeling nervous about something. Grab a bag of walnuts and put some smoked salmon in the oven.
