Millennial Magazine - video-games

The USA is home to more than 300 million people and a massive 155 million of them are ‘gamers’. According to Entertainment Software Association, 30% of these gamers fit into the 25-44 bracket, often referred to as the ‘millennial’ generation. It is believed that many of this generation spent up to and upwards of in some cases 9,000 hours of their childhood playing games, which helped to shape their childhoods and the way they view the world.

Games were about to let them experience having control of many situations and choose a strategy to achieve success. But what are the all time top video games for the millennials to play?

Super Mario Bros

This game will create a feeling of nostalgia for many millennials, especially those within the older age range of the bracket. Super Mario Bros is a classic amongst video games and available on many different platforms and one even those not fond of gaming will probably be aware of. The player controls Mario on his quest through Mushroom Kingdom in an attempt to save Princess Toadstool from Bowser.

Live Blackjack

Many millennials have never experienced a land based casino but will happily spend time at an online one. This is now possible by registering with approved and reputable sites like PartyCasino. Live casino games online give this generation the perfect opportunity to have the experience of playing with a live dealer that they would do in a land casino and this is becoming more and more appealing to them. Playing live blackjack with a dealer via a laptop or a smartphone is an attractive prospect for the generation glued to their devices and reliant upon technology.

The Sims

The Sims is a life simulation game series, that a vast number of millennials experienced whilst growing up. It is one of the best selling video games of all time and has seen over 200m sales worldwide. The player is able to create a virtual person – ‘a sim’, influence their moods, direct their actions and determine their life paths, from their jobs, to friends, families and even pets. Many expansion packs have been released over the years, offering players a lot more choice for their sims, giving them the option to do things such as put them through university, start their own business or send them on holiday, as well as expanding the choice of neighbourhood.

Roller Coaster Tycoon

Roller Coaster Tycoon is a series of simulation video games letting the user build and then manage a theme park, designing roller coasters and deciding where to place various thrill rides. There is the opportunity to play the game in an open ended manner or try to meet goals set in relation to value of park, income or park visitor numbers for example. Bad weather can cause difficulties in the quest to run a successful theme park, as can lost guests or not having enough restrooms around the park.
