3 Entertainment Trends for Millennials

Millennial Magazine - entertainment-trends

As you look at one of the most influential generations at the moment when it comes to determining trends, the Millennials are easily one of, if not the biggest driving force. Here’s a statistic that may come as a surprise to many – Millennials now make up the majority of the adult population in the United States, with a larger number of people than even the Baby Boomers. With that said, if there is a trend that catches their interest, you can bet it is going to balloon.

One area that tends to capture the attention of Millennials is entertainment. They are always looking for new, creative, and fun sources of entertainment, which has spawned a number of trends. Let’s take at some of the entertainment trends in this generation.

Board Games – Yes, Those Classic Games are Back

It seems as though board games are making a comeback with thanks to the Millennials. That famous saying of “everything that is old is new again” certainly applies here. Of course, we don’t just mean any old board game, but the once wildly popular role-playing games – think original Dungeons and Dragons from back in 1974.

Think about all the characters one can create in Dungeons and Dragons, and the situations the Dungeon Master creates for the players. If you don’t know what D&D is all about, go through their official D&D beyond the website, or read the Player’s Handbook which contains all the necessary info for starters. You can as well find it helpful to read diverse guides on different classes such as the dnd 5e Barbarian guide, Monk guide, Barbarian guide, or about any other class, by which you choose to play.

Well, it seems as though these games are making their way back into the mainstream in a big way. Some of the more notable options that people can play today include Lord of the Rings, Mice & Mystics, Pandemic, Dungeons and Dragons: Castle Ravenloft, and Gloomhaven.

This style of board game is incredibly addictive, and before you know it, you’ve spent hours at the board with no concept of the time passing by.

Bars that Offer More than Just Music

Where it used to be that a bar could crank the music loud and serve drinks and create enough “entertainment” to suit all, today it just isn’t enough. Millennials want more from the bar scene, they want it to be more entertaining, unique, fun, and allow for socializing. Having loud music blaring doesn’t really allow for chatting with friends.

A great example is the bars that have theme nights, game nights, and even trivia contests. Of course, if you want to keep the Millennials happy, that trivia contest needs to be delivered on their smartphone, not a traditional pad of paper and pen.

A Generation Full of Foodies

Then there is the ever-blooming group of foodies that seems to have really taken off with Millennials. Dining out and sampling different cuisines has become entertainment for many and has really helped to shape the direction of the food industry.

And this is just a small glimpse of the many trends the Millennials are embracing.
