Before anything else, let us be the first to congratulate you on your upcoming bundle of joy. Whatever your circumstances, we hope that your beautiful baby is born complication-free and that both mother and child have as easy a process meeting as possible.

Now, onto what you’re really here to see… just how in the world are you supposed to look fashionable while you’re pregnant? When you first started showing, it was likely cute to show off the small baby bump, mostly because you could still wear all the clothes in your closet.

But then you just kept growing, growing and growing… and now you cringe whenever you open your closet, don’t you?

It doesn’t have to be this way, however!

There are so many beautiful styles that have cropped up in recent years so that you can look beautiful whenever you go out. Nowadays, you don’t have to completely retool your fashion choices once you get pregnant, so you can feel comfortable in your outfits even while everything else in your life is changing.

Maternity Clothing

If you’ve been one of the many mothers-to-be that have thrown up your hands in disgust at your maternity choices, your time has arrived. Rather than be forced to choose between giving up shopping or wearing weirdly skimpy or matronly maternity clothing, many places now offer designs that allow you to have modest, beautiful maternity clothing that will grow with you while still being flattering.

Potential Options for Maternity Clothing That You Might Already Own

No matter how you look at it, having a baby is an expensive undertaking. As such, you might be looking where you can cut corners and save some money. Luckily, there are ways to do so while still looking trendy.

One of the best ways is to use what’s already in your closet. Especially if you’re trying to save money, you can hold onto some extra spending money by first checking what you already have. There are many clothes you probably have that will allow you to look trendy and that won’t be too tight. (It’s best to avoid tight clothing since it can block the blood circulation to your baby, which can lead to health issues).

Workout Clothing

Especially with the COVID-19 pandemic still going strong, you likely have a plethora of workout clothing that you’re either already wearing, or that you procured over the last two years.

No matter how you acquired it, workout clothing is great for clothing as your belly starts to swell. Stretchy pants (yoga or otherwise), as well as leggings, work are great as maternity clothes! These will also look trendy when paired with a flowy top or a button-up dress.

So long as your workout clothing fits you as you are now, it will continue to fit you even as you grow.

Flowy Tops

Especially when paired with leggings or yoga pants, flowy shirts will look amazing and they will also be comfortable, without you having to do too much work. Even if your entire wardrobe ends up looking like this, you can still accessorize and change up the look with earrings and other jewelry.

Modest Maternity Dresses and/or Skirts

Getting pregnant doesn’t mean that you have to give up dresses! Dresses are a great way to stay trendy while you’re pregnant. There are so many styles of dresses that are easy to put on – for when you’re sore – and that won’t be too tight for your baby.

Some of the great ones to look into when it comes to modest maternity dresses are:

  • Maxi dresses
  • Midi-dresses that are made from t-shirt fabric or other soft and flowy fabrics
  • Button-up tops

In the same vein as a modest maternity dress, skirts are another wonderful article of clothing for the time that you’re pregnant. Many skirts have stretchy material in the bands, meaning that you can wear them before you’re pregnant, while you’re pregnant, and after you’re pregnant.

Skirts also allow you to change up your style, because they can be paired with t-shirts, flowy tops, jackets, and many other tops! It’s also much easier to pair skirts with comfortable shoes, tennis shoes, or even flats.

Whether you decide to go with a skirt or a modest maternity dress, you don’t have to throw out your love of fashion just because you’re having a baby.

Blazers

Blazers tend to be loose enough and basic enough that you can pair them with many other fashion bits, meaning that you can get a lot of mileage from one article of clothing.

Pair a blazer with some leggings or some loose slacks, and then dress your outfit up or down depending on what the situation calls for.

Just make sure that you get the right size that will grow with you and your belly, which will allow you to look professional without harming the baby.
