Wynwood has no shortage of vibrant eateries and art-filled walls, but few restaurants in Miami offer a dining experience as textured, transportive, and soulful as Ghee Wynwood. The second location to the original Dadeland location, this newest outpost of Chef Niven Patel’s MICHELIN-recognized gem is more than just a culinary expansion—it’s an evolution.

At a time when Indian cuisine is often boxed into either takeout comfort or overly ornamental fine dining, Ghee Indian Kitchen carves a new path. It is elegant yet approachable, deeply rooted in tradition yet boldly contemporary. It speaks the language of spice fluently, but in Chef Patel’s hands, the dialect feels fresh, familiar, and emotionally resonant.

Whether you’re exploring the menu for the first time or returning for a taste of something nostalgic and new, this space will change your perspective on what Indian restaurants in Miami can be.

Reason #1: Ghee Wynwood Balances Indian Warmth and Miami Cool

From the moment you step inside, Ghee Indian Kitchen welcomes you with a kind of golden-hour glow—sunlight softened by vibrant yellow and terracotta walls, earthy blue and green accents, and handcrafted furnishings imported from India. The space feels rooted and intentional, balancing sleek urban design with warm nods to Indian heritage. It’s sophisticated without being cold, artistic without being overworked—a perfect setting for enjoying some of the most elevated Indian food Wynwood has to offer.

You’ll spot original artwork—including a striking painting by local artist Matthew Herget—and a cocktail bar that hints at more than mango lassis. Here, tradition and trend shake hands, and every detail tells a story. From the design to the dishes, Ghee Wynwood embodies a modern take on Indian cuisine Miami locals and visitors alike have been craving—a refined yet soulful experience where atmosphere and flavor are equally unforgettable.

Reason #2: Chef Niven Patel’s Culinary Legacy on the Plate

Chef Niven Patel, a four-time James Beard semifinalist and Miami New Times’ 2024 Best Chef, needs little introduction. His name has become synonymous with Florida’s farm-to-table movement, thanks to his personal farm, Rancho Patel, in Homestead. His cuisine, however, is less about trends and more about legacy: of his Indian upbringing, of his time cooking in Grand Cayman and Italy, and of the dishes he cooked at home for friends long before he opened his first restaurant.

At Ghee Wynwood, that legacy takes shape through a menu built on fresh, seasonal ingredients, local sourcing, and an unapologetic embrace of flavor. It is the first Ghee to feature a full spice-forward cocktail program and represents the launchpad for national expansion—yet nothing about it feels commercial. Everything feels earned, intimate, and deeply personal.

Reason #3: A Tasting Menu That Tells a Story

Our evening unfolded through the 13-course tasting menu, a culinary showcase that offered a sweeping view of Ghee Wynwood’s creative depth and mastery of spice. Priced at $75 per person, and an incredible $50 per person on Mondays, it’s an outstanding value for the sheer volume, quality, and artistry of the dishes you receive.

While every dish carried its own charm—from delicately spiced small bites to rich, soulful entrées—it was a few standout selections that truly left a lasting impression and highlighted the emotional range of Indian cuisine in Miami.

We began with the Samosa Chaat—a revelatory version of India’s beloved street snack. It arrived as an elegant chaos of textures and temperatures: crispy, warm spiced samosa crumbles layered with cooling yogurt, bright chutneys, and a whisper of citrus. It was easily the standout dish of the evening—layered, complex, and utterly transportive.

Next came the Papaya Salad, a dish that mirrored Chef Niven’s affinity for island flavors and winked at the menu from his nearby restaurant, Paya Miami. It was crunchy, cooling, and a touch sweet, but with just enough heat to remind you this wasn’t a typical tropical slaw. The salad gave way to the Crispy Broccoli, a textural masterclass—golden florets kissed with Indian spices, balanced with tamarind and herbaceous flair. You could easily order a full plate and not share a bite.

The Potato Dosa, with its crisp crepe-like shell wrapped around tender spiced potato, was served with a trio of chutneys that added depth and vibrancy. It felt nostalgic and elevated at once—a South Indian essential reinterpreted for modern Miami.

The surprise showstopper of the savory lineup? The Hanger Steak Kebab. Charred, juicy, and marinated with housemade garam masala and roasted garlic, it was so tender it practically melted. One bite and you understand the full power of spice—not just as flavor, but as a storytelling medium.

While these dishes rose to the top in terms of flavor, technique, and emotional resonance, the entire tasting menu was thoughtfully crafted—an ideal way to explore the range and personality of Indian food Wynwood now proudly offers. Other courses included refined takes on regional classics like the Tuna Bhel, Chicken Tikka Masala and of course Garlic Naan. As well as seasonal vegetable preparations, and housemade chutneys that served as bright interludes throughout the journey. It’s a tasting menu that doesn’t just sample—it tells a story.

Reason #4: Signature Dishes Worth Coming Back For

Beyond the tasting menu, we ventured into the à la carte selections to experience more of Ghee’s signature offerings. The Mushroom Momo, Chef Niven’s decadent twist on Nepalese dumplings, was nothing short of addictive. Swaddled in a creamy cashew sauce, the dumplings had the silkiness of ravioli and the deep umami of sautéed mushrooms, delivering pure indulgence in every bite.

The Chicken Biryani was a beautiful finish to the savory lineup—fragrant with saffron and caramelized onions, the rice was fluffy and flavorful, anchored by tender chicken and paired with raita to cool the palate. Both dishes reinforced why Ghee’s main menu has become a favorite among those seeking elevated, comforting Indian cuisine in Miami.

As if the savory courses hadn’t already proved their point, dessert arrived as a final statement piece. The Sticky Date Cake was warm, decadent, and perfectly dense—but what made it sing was the ginger ice cream. Bright, spicy, and slightly floral, it cut through the richness with an ingenuity that felt effortless and bold. It’s the kind of dessert that lingers, not just in memory but in sensation.

Reason #5: A Beverage Program That Matches the Menu’s Creativity

While Ghee Wynwood is the first location to feature a full spice-inspired cocktail menu, we opted for the mocktails—a move we didn’t regret. The Mango Lassi was creamy and refreshing, reminiscent of a mango smoothie but elevated with just enough tang to keep it bright. The Tamarind Express, a spiced iced tea with a tangy kick, was uniquely invigorating—a bold, non-alcoholic answer to traditional Indian flavors.

That said, the cocktail list sounded irresistible, and we’re already planning a return visit to explore it. Highlights we missed but found intriguing included the Mood Ring, Golden Thread, and Mumbai Libre—all imaginative expressions of mixology infused with Indian sensibility. Whether you drink or don’t, the beverage program at Ghee shows just as much creativity and intention as the kitchen.

From Dadeland to Wynwood: Ghee’s National Vision Begins

What began as an ambitious self-funded concept in Dadeland has now grown into a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand-recognized institution, with Ghee Wynwood serving as the next chapter in Chef Niven Patel and Mo Alkassar’s growing FEAL Hospitality portfolio.

As partners, Niven and Mo bring two essential halves of a visionary whole. Niven—the deeply intuitive chef-farmer who cultivates from seed to plate. Mo—the hospitality powerhouse who’s overseen restaurants around the globe and brings design, operations, and emotional intelligence to every guest interaction. Together, they’ve built something rare: a restaurant group that cares as deeply about people as it does about food.

Ghee Wynwood may just be the first step toward a national expansion, but it feels deeply local. It honors both its Indian roots and its Miami home. And it serves not just one of the best Indian meals in the city—it offers one of the most soulful dining experiences you’ll find anywhere.
