If your hobbies revolve around art, it’d be helpful to look for something entirely different, like racquetball or laser tag. Additionally, look for mindful hobbies that take you from your comfort zone and change your perception for a different stress approach.

Remember, looking for something different doesn’t mean you abandon your interests; it simply means your current hobbies aren’t suitable for relaxation at that moment. Besides, you can always alternate these hobbies to fit your needs.

Unfortunately, you cannot escape emotional distress. It’s simply unattainable. The best you can do is to adopt mindful practices like those above to help you manage stress and nurture your wellbeing. After all, you increase your chances of coping with emotional distress when you proactively stay on top of your triggers.
