As a result, money makes money, and accountants get paid well for their services. Aside from the high payday, here are a few reasons why you may want to consider becoming an accountant

Every Industry Needs One

Accountants are needed across the board. Whether it is the restaurant business, the medical field, or entertainment, all industries need an accountant. A lot of people don’t know how to crunch numbers successfully, so they hire accountants to do it for them. You yourself don’t need to be a math whiz to be an accountant, you just need to know how things work.

Learning tax laws, learning how to file paperwork, and knowing what forms are needed for what tasks are a majority of the job. It is your know-how that gets you paid, and when you are knowledgeable on what needs to get done, you are worth your weight in gold and jobs are always available.

You Can Move Up Quick

Once you get your footing and feel stable about your career as an accountant, you can move up and make more money. A lot of accountants take their CPA exam in order to raise their salaries. Although it’s hard to study for the CPA and the CPA exam is not easy, a lot of accountants look forward to CPA exam scores release days when they find out if they passed and they can start planning for an abundant new future. That’s how big of a deal becoming a CPA is.

Once you become a CPA you will be a certified public accountant and you can open the doors to more jobs and a 10%-15% increase in pay. You can also get higher level jobs you would not normally be able to get if you did not hold the CPA license.

Math Is a Common Language

When you are an accountant, you can basically live anywhere. Math is math no matter where you go. The only change you have to hunker down and learn is the laws of the new country or area of your country you are going to live in. Tax laws and financial laws vary as you travel around the world, and once you are able to get all those new rules and regulations down, you can live anywhere.

Accounting is a career that really opens the world up to you in a whole different way. And because you are going to be making a decent salary, you can live the best life no matter where you go. There is something attractive about knowing you will always have some sort of financial security.

You Can Learn Your Own Way

If you are thinking that accounting is something you would love to do, but you don’t have time for college or the money for college, let it be known, you don’t have to go to college. Accounting courses can be taken just about anywhere, and you can quickly and cheaply be on your way to earning your accounting degree.

Once you get in on the ground floor, you can then work your way up with experience and connections based on your good work performance. The CPA exam is also within your reach, which means even more money is in your future.

Job Security

No job is fully secure, but when you’re an accountant, you’re always in demand. Accountants have a very high hire rate as they are needed in so many areas of business, commerce, and industry. It is a good feeling to know that when you finish your courses, you are most likely going to step right into a good paying job.

Being an accountant also enables you to step right into the professional world as a fully-fledged member of the team. In other areas of industry, a lot of new hires have to start in a lower position and work their way to the top.

You Are an Advice Giver

A lot of people think of accounting as sitting in front of a calculator all day crunching numbers and making formulas work. In reality, there is not that much number crunching going on. In fact, most of accounting is talking to clients and advising them to the next best course of action for their finances.

Accountants really only crunch massive amounts of numbers during tax time when they are trying to file their clients’ paperwork and help them with their tax deductions. With that, you are not working yourself around the clock all year. It’s a seasonal business where after your busy time, you are free to travel and rest at your leisure.

You Can Help Charities

Accountants have the skill set and ability to be charitable. A lot of non-for-profit charities need help managing their finances. Accountants are known to work pro bono for charities to help them save money and keep money for their organization.

Having the ability to be charitable is a huge perk to the job as you will be doing your part to help those in need helping others in need.

You Can Branch Out On Your Own

When you know the ins and outs of accounting, you can either start your own accounting firm, or you can start just about any business of your choosing. Finances are at the core of every new start up, and when you are a master financier, you will have the time to focus on other parts of growing the business.

You will save yourself money by handling your own finances, and as the year goes on, you can keep track of how your money is growing and you can plan accordingly right away.
