Next, he took the device to the streets of Moscow, where the sensors collected data on pollutants. The data was then translated into volts and processed by a computing platform called Arduino, which transformed the volts into shapes and colors, resulting in a movie of pollution. Morozov’s device then captured still images from the movie, which he printed out. Ironically, the dirtier the air, the brighter and more vivid the resulting image, with exhaust smoke creating particularly vibrant prints.
