Tell us how your early life shaped your career, Stephanie.

As a child, growing up in poverty presented significant challenges for me. However, this environment fostered my creativity and passion for art. Drawing and painting became my escape from the harsh realities of my circumstances. With limited resources, I found innovative ways to create art using whatever materials I could find.

This determination to pursue my passion despite limited resources and challenging circumstances developed in me a strong work ethic and dedication to my craft. I learned to be resourceful and creative, traits that have proven valuable in my professional career.

What wisdom did you extract from your humble upbringing?

The most impactful advice I ever received was when a social worker told me that no one could save me. While living in a homeless shelter, those words motivated me to learn new skills and hone the ones I already possessed to become a better artist, influencer, mother, and wife.

Explain some challenges associated with being a professional model.

One of the most significant challenges is the over-saturation of the market. With so many people vying for the same opportunities, it can be challenging to stand out from the crowd and get noticed by casting directors and agents. This means aspiring models must have a strong self-awareness and a clear understanding of their unique value proposition.

Another challenge associated with the modeling industry is the need to have exceptional communication skills. As a model, you will be working with a wide range of people, including photographers, makeup artists, and designers, and you must communicate effectively with each of them. This means being able to clearly articulate your needs and expectations, as well as being receptive to feedback and direction from others.

Finally, models need to have an exceptional level of confidence. It’s not enough to be comfortable in front of the camera; you must exude confidence in every aspect of your work. This means being able to project confidence in your body language, facial expressions, and overall demeanor. It also means handling rejection and criticism with grace and resilience, as these are inevitable parts of the industry.

Modeling can be advantageous but requires unique skills and characteristics that are only sometimes easy to cultivate.

Which platforms are most important to your social media strategy?

Instagram is the leading social media app that I use. It has become an essential platform for me to showcase my creativity, connect with my audience, and build my brand. With its visual-first approach, Instagram provides an ideal platform to showcase my work and communicate with my followers.

What makes a sponsored campaign successful?

Ultimately, the key to success in a sponsorship campaign is ensuring both parties benefit. By focusing on the interests and needs of both the sponsor and the audience, it’s possible to create a campaign that generates significant returns and fosters strong relationships and partnerships.

With the right strategy and execution, a sponsorship campaign can be a powerful tool for achieving business and marketing goals while providing value and benefit to the target audience.

To create a successful sponsorship campaign, it’s essential to start by identifying the right sponsor. The sponsor should be aligned with the values and interests of the audience and, ideally, have a strong presence and reputation in the market.

Once the sponsor has been identified, the promoted content should be designed to align with the sponsor’s messaging and goals while providing value and relevance to the audience.

How do you maintain a relationship with your audience?

I prioritize maintaining a solid relationship with my audience by responding to comments and checking my request for DMs. This helps me engage with my followers personally and build a loyal following that is invested in my content and brand.

What skills do you recommend honing to become a successful influencer?

To be a successful influencer, there are several vital skills to possess:

  • Communication: Influencers need effective communicators to connect with their audience and convey their message.
  • Creativity: Creating compelling, unique content is essential for standing out in a crowded influencer market.
  • Consistency: Successful influencers must consistently create content and engage with their audience to maintain their following.
  • Adaptability: The ability to adapt to new trends, platforms, and changes in the industry is crucial for staying relevant and successful over time.
  • Business acumen: Influencers must also have strong business skills, such as marketing, branding, and negotiation, to monetize their content and work with brands.

While tenacity and practice are essential traits, being visual is only sometimes a must-have skill for all influencers, as some may focus more on written or audio content. However, having a solid eye for visuals can undoubtedly be an advantage in specific niches.
