Dearest Visionaries and Builders of the New Earth,

I can’t believe we turn the page on another year. As we stand at the dawn of 2024, I am thrilled to share with you a tradition that has become a cornerstone of my life, and a reflection of our journey here at Millennial. Each year, I choose a theme – an energy I wish to embody that shapes my goals, decisions, and narratives for the year to come.

I normally call in the energy right before the New Year, but as fate would have it, the theme came early. This year, on 12/12 during the New Moon, I felt it! The theme for 2024 is harvest.

Reflecting on Expansion

Before we delve into the abundant possibilities that harvest brings, let’s take a moment to reflect on 2023. This was, after all, my year of expansion.

During this past year, we bravely expanded our horizons at Millennial, launching several new subsidiary brands and digital products, and covering some big entrepreneurs and influencers like Chase Fisher and Rachel Love. It was a year of stretching our capabilities, reaching new audiences, and taking bold steps forward. As a team, we learned that expansion is not just about growing in size but also about growing in depth, understanding, and focus.

On a personal level, I felt the intensity of expansion would quite literally manifest with the opposite effect- contraction. It was an interesting paradox to navigate. I was often left feeling overwhelmed, limited, and stuck at times. But to overcome these blockages, I found that consistently invoking the creative spirit and focusing on one goal at a time, only added to my overall expansion.

Why Harvest Matters Now

2024 marks a significant milestone for us here at Millennial – we officially enter our 10th year as a magazine. It is one of the greatest feelings knowing that we’ve made it to the other side. In fact, 65% percent of startups won’t ever make it to their 10th year. What a blessing to have been able to hold on for this long!

The theme of harvest is especially poignant as we prepare to reap the rewards of a decade of hard work, dedication, and the relentless pursuit of executing vision. Harvest is not just about enjoying the fruits of our labor, but rather, recognizing the efforts that got us here. Harvest is about building upon the foundation of achievements and lessons learned along the way.

The Universal Appeal of Harvest

For entrepreneurs of every stage and size, let this theme of harvest offer you a powerful new perspective. A reminder to look at what you’ve sown in your business and personal life, and prepare for the time of reaping. Whether you’re running a startup or leading a well-established company, harvest encourages you to celebrate your successes, learn from your experiences, and leverage these insights for continued growth.

Personal Reflections and Looking Forward

When I look at my own personal and business journey, I am filled with gratitude knowing how many people I’ve affected, and likewise, those who’ve had an impact on me. From the early days of uncertainty to the exhilarating moments of breakthrough, every step has been invaluable, leading to this exact moment.

I am excited to see how we as a magazine, and you, in our entrepreneurial community, will interpret and embody the theme of harvest. This is the time to cherish the present, honor the past, and prepare for a future that builds upon foundation.

So, let’s step into 2024 celebrating the sacrifices made to get here. The time has come to harvest!

I wish you all a fruitful 2024, and a blessed holiday season.

My sincerest honor,

Britt Hysen, Editor in Chief
