  • Coachella Festival Fashion 2025 Focused on Curated Style Over Costume

If you’re on social media, then there’s no chance you missed the uptick in content the last two weeks surrounding everyone’s favorite music festival: Coachella.

The festival’s two weekends were full of influencers, celebrities, and musical artists all decked out in their Palm Springs best. That said, Coachella is not only a music festival; it’s a mirror for fashion’s mood each year.

Coachella festival fashion has evolved dramatically—from the days of Vanessa Hudgens in flowy Boho pants with feathers in her hair, to what it has become now. It’s clear that fashion is a main focus for the festival.

This year, however, was less about flower crowns and more about curated personas, nostalgia, and even minimalist aesthetics.

The Reign of Minimalism

Though there was an incredible amount of maximalist and more than eccentric outfits, it’s clear that fashion’s shift towards minimalism has even permeated the most eccentric events.

A significant number of attendees were seen ditching more costume-like outfits and opting for more sleek and chic ones. Some examples include monochrome sets, neutral tones, classic vintage Levi’s and even sheer layering.

Hailey Bieber, one of the more noticeable participants in this trend, was spotted in an ultra chic look: a 90s burgundy Mugler top paired with Gimaguas pants, chic black sunglasses and Dries Van Noten sneakers.

While attending the 2025 CLD Pre-Festival House in Beverly Hills, Lori Harvey embraced Coachella festival fashion with a classic Canadian tuxedo look, featuring a pair of baggy denim jeans and a matching denim jacket with an oversized cut.

Underneath she wore a simple tank top which emphasized the minimalist flair of her look. She did, however, opt for a maximalist take on her accessories with a stack of Chanel necklaces and sunglasses from the brand.

She completed the look with a Ferragamo Hug bag and a pair of Khaite boots with a snake skin detailing.

Kendall Jenner also on top of the trend wore a simple gray tank top with charcoal straight-leg denim. She paired this with black and silver Nike Air Superfly sneakers, a green bag, sleek black sunglasses and a neat bun.

Content creator and internet socialite, Quen Blackwell embraced Coachella festival fashion with the minimalist trend, sporting a chic matching white set. The top was a white jersey-like bandeau t-shirt, which she wore with shorts rolled up at the waist in the same material.

The Return of Boho Chic

Another strong and highly prevalent trend that can be seen on the streets of major cities like New York City and Los Angeles is “Boho Chic” a la Isabel Marant or Chloé. Think cowboy hats, cowboy boots, fringe, lace and lots of flowing layers.

You can imagine Stevie Nicks or Florence Welch as inspiration on the Pinterest boards of festival goers as they planned their outfits for Coachella.

I believe this uptick can also be attributed to Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter album and upcoming tour to the major appreciation for western inspired garb.

Addison Rae is a perfect example of commitment to this trend as she was seen walking the festival grounds in a revealing white sheer Choé dress from the brand’s Fall Winter 2025 runway.

The dress was adorned in ruffles galore and had a beautiful romantic air as it flowed. The multi-hyphenate talent paired the look with a pink bikini bottom and matching pink heels.

Content creator, Summer Rachel Warren, also leaned heavily into the bohemian vibes while planning her accessories for Coachella.

In a TikTok she posted, she showed a selection of the items she would be bringing and planning to wear while attending the festival and she hit the nail on the head for the bohemian trend.

Warren showed off her brown suede Chanel bag which was decorated with fringe. She also showed off her brown macrame poncho, straw hat and chunky yellow lens frames.

TikTok star Charlie D’Amelio went full force Boho Chic in an all black look. The outfit featured a two piece set with top with sheer trim and a tie closure at the front.

She paired it with a leather mini skirt which included fringe and feather details and completed the look with a pair of cowboy boots and two long braids.

The Return of Messy Cool

What can almost be seen almost as a response to fashion’s current obsession with minimalism is the return of “Indie Sleaze” which can be identified with the early 2000s and includes a messy carefree approach to styling.

Charli XCX and her recent aesthetic as seen during her “Brat” era can be used as a strong reference point – from her looks with ripped stockings to being draped in fur, the British pop star has got the look down.

This aesthetic absolutely showed up in full force at this year’s Coachella celebrations.

Speaking of Charli XCX, Alix Earle embraced the indie sleaze trend for her look while attending the musician’s performance at the festival.

Her hair was styled in a intentionally semi-messy style with unraveling braids strewn throughout which was highly evocative of the indie sleaze energy.

For her look, she wore a bra top with silver sequins which was styled with a pair of black shorts with a statement belt with silver studs. She accessorized the look with black knee high boots and complimentary jewelry.

Tara Yummy also took a Palm Springs spin on the indie sleaze trend with her look for Day 1 of the festival, which was inspired by Lady Gaga’s Abracadabra music video (and fitting for her performance that day).

The creator wore a statement deep red furry top which featured a hood and paired with leather shorts of the same hue. She accessorized with a black belt, grungy leather bracelet cuffs and black knee high boots.

Coachella Festival Fashion 2025: Minimalism & Boho Vibes

Coachella 2025 once again proved that the music festival is a barometer for fashion’s current trends and this year’s attendees favorced curated personas over costume-like looks.

While other micro-trends were present, minimalism, boho chic and indie sleaze definitely stole the show. It will be interesting to see how these trends evolve and develop over the next few months this summer; both on the streets and during upcoming musical festivals.
