Inspiration is a tricky substance. It’s not something you can force – but if you create the right circumstances for it to occur then it’s far more likely to happen. If you’re looking for inspiration in your creative life but also around your home, you can kill two birds with one stone by turning to the inspiring floorplans and interior design techniques of creative geniuses from yesteryear to give you some ideas on how to get started.

Virginia Woolf, Ernest Hemingway, Emily Dickinson… these are some of the greats of literature. But their words didn’t appear from out of nowhere: these writers had to sit on their behinds and type them out like anybody else. If the genius was within them, the atmosphere in which they worked was what helped them to express their wonderful ideas.

This new set of illustrations recreates the bedrooms of these writers and more, making it easier than ever to take a peek at how they arranged their personal space and to get an insight into where their ideas were fulfilled. It’s a great resource if you’re looking for inspiration on how to style your home – and who knows, maybe once you’ve redecorated you’ll find the same inspiration gushing forth in your creative work!
