Sebastian Porter

Sebastian Porter is a producer, Dj and remixer living in Berlin who specializes in electronic house-music with a deep melodic style. His music tells stories full of surprises and unexpected twists, all suitable for the dancefloor! In 2010, Sebastian left his career as an economist to start building his music career. A Cologne native, he has become a Berliner-by-choice and lets his music speak for itself, constantly releasing on well-known electronic labels.

What is it about the music you make that identifies it as a Sebastian Porter production?

I think what sets my tracks apart are the stories I tell. The music develops with intensity and the stories only enfold if you listen from start to finish. In most cases they are more complex compositions using many tools. I always try to intertwine a mix of details in my productions, including a lot of individual sound fragments and percussion. This generates contrast and an interesting sound picture. At the end, every piece acts as a travel portal for the listener taking you on a journey to the unknown.

Do you think travelling to the US and Hawaii for the first time this summer for i9 will have an influence on your music?

Definitely. Sources of inspiration are everywhere. Why not on Hawaii? I will keep my feelers out.

What professional dream is going to be the next one to come true?

A few great labels are going to be releasing my tracks soon. Unfortunately I am not able to talk too much about that now! On top of this I am being asked more often to travel outside of Germany to perform, which gives me the chance to see something of other countries and to find out how music is experienced there. That is really great.

Why music?

Because I love music and am inspired to use this medium to send this love across the planet.
