When traveling around the world or the country, you may have your favorite hotel hangouts, but if you are looking for a specific wellness weekend, look no further than the Waldorf Astoria Chicago. For travelers seeking a luxury wellness retreat in Chicago, the Waldorf offers a refined, restorative escape in the heart of the Gold Coast.
Accommodations at Chicago’s Waldorf
Located in Chicago’s historic Gold Coast, this luxury hotel in Chicago is an iconic part of the skyline on the near northside of the city. The palatial private courtyard entrance welcomes guests to the Waldorf with the warm glow of soft twinkle lights, beckoning travelers to discover redefined luxury. Guests can choose from 214 guestrooms and suites spread out across 19 floors, complete with Parisian-inspired decor, which was specifically inspired by Coco Chanel. Outdoor terraces and cozy electric fireplaces can even be found in select rooms and all of the property’s suites – perfect for a cold Chicago night.

When booking a room, I highly recommend the Terrace King room. This city retreat includes a plush king-size bed, a private terrace that showcases Chicago’s one-of-a-kind skyline with glimpses of Lake Michigan, and a one-touch fireplace. Perfect for a romantic weekend or an upgraded business stay.

Take a long soak in the luxurious extra-deep soaking bath tub and savor the breathtaking backdrop of the cityscape right outside your window. You can also opt for a separate rainfall shower to wash away a long day before sinking into the lush bedding at the end of the day. The Terrace King room mindfully blends elegance and warmth as well as comfort and chic style. Not only do these accommodations embody the best of the luxury, but also the best of Chicago’s Gold Coast. Timeless sophistication has a home, and it is the Waldorf Chicago.
Amenities at this Gold Coast Chicago hotel
Luxurious amenities and personalized service combined make for an unforgettable stay. These world-class amenities are designed for comfort and convenience with exceptional dining and indulgent spa services just steps away from your room. It’s an ideal choice for travelers looking for a Chicago hotel with a spa and fitness center that prioritizes both indulgence and well-being.

Although this Chicago hotel has an incredible amount of amenities to enjoy, there were a few that stood out the most on my recent visit. First was the on-site fitness center. Complete with modern equipment and fitness machines, including pilates reformers, this state-of-the-art fitness center is complimentary to all guests. If you prefer to take it to the water, there is always Lake Michigan, but if the water is too cold, opt for the indoor lap pool. These calm, tranquil waters are great for morning exercise or unwinding after a long day exploring the city.
The most noteworthy amenity that caught my attention was the luxury house car. This house car is way better than any ride share or luxury black car you may request with your phone because this car service is completely complimentary to hotel guests. The catch is you can only use it for a one-mile radius, but in the third-largest city in the country, you can cover a lot of ground in a one-mile radius, giving you access to almost anything you can imagine in one of the greatest cities. (Please note the luxury house car is available on a first-come, first-served basis.)
Chicago Dining
Although Chicago is home to some amazing restaurants, this Gold Coast Chicago hotel has another incredible amenity – an on-site bar and restaurant. Make reservations at Bernard’s, Brass Tack, or both! Seriously, why choose one when you can try both?

Bernard’s
Located on the second floor of the Waldorf Astoria Chicago, Bernard’s is an intimate hideaway that offers guests city sophistication. This lounge is where equestrian-inspired design meets effortless elegance. A stop at this hidden gem almost guarantees a lively and unforgettable night. Choose from handcrafted classic cocktails and smooth spirits, each masterfully poured with precision and respect for the time-honored tradition that is mixology. Savor and sip the night at Bernard’s, a worldly stop in the heart of a bustling metropolis.

Brass Tack
If you are looking for culinary excellence, look no further than the Brass Tack. Located on the third floor, Brass Tack offers hotel guests and city goers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. Enjoy American brasserie cuisine with this elevated dining experience and its rich flavors.
Stop in for a sunlit breakfast or brunch with limitless libations, or enjoy a lovely lunch. Perhaps a delicious dinner is more your style. For a weekend brunch, I recommend enjoying a bit of breakfast and lunch. Order up a stack of blueberry pancakes topped with lemon blueberry confiture. Next, try the B.T. Smash Burger topped with cheddar cheese, caramelized onion, and bacon. This burger is then topped with a homemade special sauce and is served on a fluffy potato bun. If you need something sweet, end the meal with a pastry basket. Choose from three bakery items paired with a variety of butter and jams. For ultimate convenience, 24-hour room service is also available to guests.

The Waldorf Astoria Chicago Spa
The onsite spa is the ultimate way to wellness. This award-winning spa offers a sanctuary for relaxation and respite. The ultimate in indulgence and luxury, this spa features a dry sauna, eucalyptus steam room, and a whirlpool. Unwind in the chic and sophisticated relaxation lounge before or after your spa treatment. Choose from beauty services, body treatments, and personalized massages.
If you need a spa suggestion to embark on the ultimate weekend of wellness, try The Waldorf Délassant Body Ritual with Massage. This 90-minute massage is the epitome of indulgence. First, enjoy a full body dry brush followed by a hydrating wrap. While the body wrap hydrates your skin, enjoy a calming, warm oil scalp treatment. Finally, complete your journey with a full body massage. Like I said, luxury.
Things to Do Near this Luxury Chicago Hotel
Although there is plenty to do on the property to keep you busy or relaxed during your stay, there are also a lot of options to do around the property. If you need some outdoor time, head to the Chicago lakefront trail for a walk or run, or head north to Lincoln Park and enjoy some green space. Walk the Nature Boardwalk, explore the Beehive, or pop into the Lincoln Park Zoo, which is completely free. (Yes, free).
If your definition of wellness includes some retail therapy, stay nearby and walk the streets of the Gold Coast and shop the high-end boutiques of Oak Street and Rush Street. You can also head up to Michigan Avenue for more shopping.
Luxury Meets Wellness at This Chicago City Retreat
Wellness at the Waldorf may not be the first thing that comes to mind when booking a stay at a luxury hotel in Chicago’s Gold Coast, but a closer look reveals a thoughtfully curated wellness-forward experience. From its cozy accommodations to its fine dining options, as well as the state-of-the-art fitness center and world-class spa, wellness at the Waldorf Astoria Chicago offers everything you need for all things wellness.
